Life in the Tropics.

I have a nice view from my desk.. kind of just left of my straight on field of vision.  through 2 pieces of glass (the window from our office, which in the lobby looks like a mirror, and then through the windows leading outside).  The Palm Trees are moving slightly in the breeze and the greenie, bluey water is just rippling away.  Honestly.. Not just saying that.  it's lovely out there.  considering this morning it was pouring with rain when we left the house and of course the children had no umbrellas.   Lucky for them, we managed to get to school in between some heavy showers..  and now the sun is shining and it has turned in to a beautiful day..  Life in the Tropics they say..

Monday Monday....

Blue Skies.. Smiling at me..   What's with the song titles??   oh who knows..  just felt like adding something you might be interested in reading. (and there is a nice blue sky out there with wispy white clouds but it gets old just reading about that).   I guess also I'm a big fan of the TV show "Glee".. if you haven't seen it, watch it.  It's life in High School, with a Glee (music) club.  great songs revisited.  maybe that's why I like it.

January started off seamingly slow, but it now appears to be picking up steam.. Only soo many more days left in the month.   Check out the calendar at the bottom of the page and see if there is anything that appeals to you in the going's on around the island.  Will check back in a little later..

Learning the Blog

Here I sit on a Saturday afternoon, not at the beach (don't ask me why, cause I'm not sure).  But I'm taking the time learn about blogging.  Figured that since I had left this blog along for over a month (ok ok.. Christmas, New Years, etc etc got in the way) .   I've managed to figure out how to edit the size of the the "wrappers" and get it how I want it, so I can add new things as I go.   Yes I'm saving my HTML Code to if I make a serious mistake I can go back and fix it later.  I'm actually going to post this now and see how it looks. Bear with me on this one and we shall see how it goes

Left alone in the office

Writing quickly as there is no one in the office.. management out.. no reservations agents in today..  I'm answering phones for the first time and just disconnected someone.. (oh joy)...   It's a bit rainy outside.. had a hard shower an hour or so ago, but the sun still trying to come out from behind the clouds..

Pictures

So I skipped yesterday.. Went and did some training on website design the day before and was so psyched about it, I just dove head long into trying to rework the website yesterday.. Have to slow down and get some organization going.

Today, around noonish, I took a walk about the hotel grounds.. got some nice pictures of the beach and hotel areas and thought I'd post them.. make you all jealous.

Enjoy.

Day 2 and the Sun is shining

Driving to work today.. yes I can say that now, I came down from the middle of St. George, sat in the little bit of traffic at the Garfield Sobers Roundabout and headed down Rendezvous Hill and onto the south coast road.  There it was again.. The Sea.. with the sun shining on it pretty as you please.  Inching along the south coast, I caught it again as I drove passed Rockley/Accra Beach..  not as flat as it sometimes is, but the breeze has some little wisps of waves lapping around the shore.   and here I sit, again, looking out the window onto the palm trees and out onto the south coast sea.. Just a pretty as you please.. seating there, welcoming everyone to come have a swim.  And there are quests on the beach, spreading out their towels on the hotel beach chairs, getting ready for another day.. under the Barbados Sun..

First Day.. and beyond

So I'm sitting here in an air conditioned office at Coconut Court Beach Hotel on the south coast of Barbados... staring out the window at the waving Coconut Palms and the beautiful Caribbean sea drifting by. Why?? you ask.. because I've just started a new job as Community Manager (Social Media, Website) for this nice litte (82room) hotel.

The hotel has been around along time but are in need of an interjection of new blood and recently advertised for the a vacancy entitled Social Media. Do you twitter?? Do you spend more time on Facebook then watching TV?? I had a number of friends tell me the advert had my name written all over it. Well it obviously did, because here I sit. (secretly wanting to know why I wasted the last 4 years not going to the beach everyday and enjoying myself).

Anyway.. This is where the Coconut Telegraph Barbabos is born. A place to give information about the hotel, photo's, video's etc.
